Nigerian Government Oil Refineries and Recent Activities of Her Neighbors (2)

Why We L👀ked Into This »🎨
The Government of Nigeria has suggested that there may be a increase in fuel prices. Predictably, the labour union responded to this move by the government. In their response, the Nigerian refineries were mentioned. How many refineries are in Nigeria? What are their capacities? How many are working? This is the second post in a series.

Oil Production Capacity of Nigeria’s Neighbors

  • Nigeria’s neighbors have been involved in different activities regarding oil production.
  • To the West of Nigeria, Benin Republic plans to start producing oil by 2030.
  • To the North of Nigeria, Niger Republic has a refinery co-owned by the CNPC (China National Petroleum Corporation) and Nigerien Government.
  • To the North-East of Nigeria, Chad has a refinery co-owned by the CNPC and the Chadian Government.
  • To the East of Nigeria, Cameroon has a refinery co-owned by the Cameroonian Government and Total Oil Company.
  • Nigeria’s neighbors are not only seeking self-sufficiency but also export of oil to other countries, including Nigeria due to the country’s refineries not working.

Recent Activities Around Nigeria

  • China has played an active role with Nigeria’s neighbors. The CNPC has controlling interests in the Chadian and Nigerien refineries.
  • Insecurity and militant activities have affected some oil-pipeline projects.
  • Niger and Chad are landlocked nations. Thus, export of oil is difficult through these countries. This position favors Nigeria, Benin and Cameroon who have ports closer to the Gulf of Guinea.
  • Niger is a popular hotspot. Nigeria had once attempted a Niger-Nigeria oil pipeline to supply crude from Agadez to Kaduna Refinery. Due to its (Katsina State) shorter distance and closeness to Niger, there is now a consideration for the Agadem-Katsina route.

This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I love seeing websites that understand the value of providing a quality resource for free. It?s the old what goes around comes around routine. Did you acquired lots of links and I see lots of trackbacks??
