It has been one year since the first case of COVID-19 was reported in Nigeria. We charted the trend of recorded cases at different times and the months were mortality was the highest.

Data Visualization of Reported COVID-19 Cases in Nigeria (First 6 Months)

 

Monthly Cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria (2020-21)

  • In late February of 2020, the first case of #Coronavirus was confirmed in Nigeria.
  • In June 2020, the highest number of monthly cases was reported.

 

Mortality Rate of COVID-19 in Nigeria 

  • Mortality rate is the rate of deaths per confirmed cases. While mortality rate has been the highest in April and May, it does not necessarily represent the severity of cases. For instance, there were 303 deaths recorded in June before dropping to 289 deaths in July.
  • In 2021(January), cases recorded increased again by 54% while deaths increased by 61%.
